TECHNOLOGY
Although the world's supply of oil and natural gas is NOT infinite and we are using more now than ever before, we are finding more reserves thanks to new technology. Today's petroleum industry uses sophisticated information systems and the latest technology in every phase of its activity.
Attributes derived from a basic seismic measurement, such as amplitude, can be extracted from the data at various points in the processing sequence. When properly calibrated, attribute analysis can show variations in key structural, stratigraphic or reservoir fluid characteristics and indicate where suitable conditions for hydrocarbon accumulation could occur. Among the most popular of such analytical techniques is Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO) analysis for the identification of natural gas.
Recent advances in micro processing, miniaturization and telemetry have given rise to new downhole devices that gather directional information (Measurement While Drilling) and reservoir parameters (Logging While Drilling). Coupled with bit steering technology, these systems permit the drilling of deviated wells and horizontal completions designed to maximize productive capacity.
The benefits of the full range of new petroleum technology described above are available to us by our association or partnering with a broad spectrum of companies. Oil Estates uses these tools to assess prospects with a view towards maximizing the cost-to-benefit relationship while striving to reduce the elements of risk. |
